Ion Exchange Resins for Clinical Applications

نویسندگان

چکیده

Ion exchange resins are the cross-linked polymers that insoluble in water and consist of charged ionic groups, for exchanging counter-ions, at repeating positions along resin. IERs majorly classified into two types i.e., cationic anionic resins, depending on type ion exchanged. Over last few years, have gained significant attention owing to their various benefits drug formulations improving taste, stability, anti-deliquescence, dissolution drug. They also play a role targeted delivery via employing technologies such as sigmoidal release system, gastric retentive hollow fiber system microencapsulated resonates. Furthermore, they used therapeutic purposes like treating different ailments abnormalities high cholesterol, edema, pruritus, cardiac uremia etc. The chapter presents an overview clinical implications.

[Ion exchange resins].

Ion exchange resins have been used to help formulate pharmaceuticals since the late 1950's. During that time they have proved to be safe and effective excipients and are now used in many commercial formulations throughout the world. In this article we will look at some of the common problems faced by formulators and how using ion exchange resins may be able to solve them. Ion exchange resins ar...

Ion Exchange Resins and Applications in Pharmaceutical Technology

Ion exchange resins (IER) are cross-linked, water insoluble polymers carrying ionizable functional groups on their repeating positions. They are considered as safe materials due to their insoluble and nonabsorbable nature. This advantage made IER subject of several research in different areas of pharmaceutical technology such as oral sustained release, taste masking, rapid dissolution, stabilit...

Deodorizing experiments with ion exchange resins.

In a previous report (1), the differences in the carbon number of the lower fatty acids contained in cutaneous secretions such as axillary sweat, smegma, and dandruff, were considered as factors responsible for the difference in odor between osmidrotic and non-osmidrotic subjects. Besides these there are ammonia constituents and volatile salts (trimethylamine, methylamine) which may take part i...

Ion-exchange resins as drug delivery carriers.

There are many reports in the literature referring to the utilization of drug bound to ion-exchange resin (drug-resinate), especially in the drug delivery area. Ion-exchange resin complexes, which can be prepared from both acidic and basic drugs, have been widely studied and marketed. Salts of cationic and anionic exchange resins are insoluble complexes in which drug release results from exchan...
